I’m one of those Christmas people; the kind that has seven decorated trees up by the second week of November. I love the holidays and I love seeing the creative work of holiday decorators. Holiday decorating is a fast-growing field. It’s a service that’s been around for a while, but is starting to appeal to a much wider audience. That means this is the perfect time for you to grow your email list with potential customers. These freebie ideas for holiday decorators can help you grow a year round email list.
1. Develop leads for your business.
Freebies (aka Lead Magnets) are valuable downloads you exchange for getting someone’s email address. Lead magnets are the number one way to grow your email list. If you have an email list and no lead magnet, then my friend, you do not have an email list.
Email lists are a great way to develop leads for your business, especially for holiday decorators. Since your work is seasonal, you can nurture your email list throughout the year so that when it comes time to book your seasonal service, they are primed and ready.
2. Grow your website traffic.
Freebies are a great way to grow your website traffic. You can advertise your freebie on social media, directing people back to your website in order to sign up. This helps grow your visitor count during this initial visit to your website.
Now that you’re able to email them, you’ll have countless opportunities to redirect them back to your website. Website traffic is sales gold. Whenever we can get them back to your website to book, we definitely want to.
3. Create a passive revenue stream.
Since lead magnets lead to email lists, your freebie can lead to a passive income stream. Your newsletters should be promoting your services in a number of ways, but they’re also an opportunity to share affiliate links.
Whether you always include a section about what you’re buying now or what to buy to make a Christmas tree look like your latest design, your newsletter is a great way to market your affiliate links to a captive audience.

You’ll need an email list/newsletter platform to work with. FloDesk is the best I’ve worked with. It’s what I use and what I recommend for my clients. They offer email templates so that anyone can easily design a good-looking marketing email and the workflow setup is very intuitive. As a small business who works with other small businesses, I love any service that empowers non-tech people to be able to DIY it. For some clients though, who prefer someone else do all their tech setups and integrations, I offer a small set up and design package to get your email marketing platform set up and integrated into your business. Reach out if you’re interested in that!
1. On your website
Your freebie should absolutely be on your website! In several places. I recommend adding it to your footer, your link in bio page, on each blog post, and in a few smaller sections on pages that are relevant.
2. Social media platforms
You’ve already got it added to your link in bio, which is great. Now make sure you’re posting about it. I also recommend making multiple Pinterest posts about your freebie since that’s a great audience for decorating enthusiasts.
3. In any digital collateral you use
This is getting into the real nitty gritty of your marketing plan, but it’s an important part to remember. If you have a digital client onboarding packet or other digital material that goes out to potential or booked clients, be sure to include an encouragement for them to sign up for your freebie. This is an already interested audience, which means you want to keep in contact with them so that they can purchase later or come back to you as a repeat customer.
Now, are there successful holiday decorators operating without an email list? Of course. But if you want to nurture your business for the long term, developing an email list is non-negotiable. Use one of these freebie ideas for holiday decorators to start speaking to potential clients year round!
