The travel industry is a creative one! I’ve worked with several travel brands in the last couple of years who are thinking outside of the box in what they offer and how they serve clients. So I know your travel company may be unlike any other. Maybe you offer custom itineraries or only work in a select area.
But no matter what services you offer or what niche you work in, these are non-negotiables for your travel brand’s website. You absolutely need all of these items on your website:
- A Show & Tell Home Page : This page will be your most visited, so it needs to do three things VERY quickly: show what your travel brand offers through incredible (and original) photos, tell potential purchasers exactly how you can serve them, and then direct them to your conversion catalyst (usually a contact method). Beyond this, your home page should have a clear navigation (which will help your SEO), direct people to where they can get more information about your services, and include social proof of your abilities and success.
- An Approachable About Page : The about page is a chance for those who are interested in your services to learn more about you and your unique value to them. Contrary to how it sounds, your About Page should be as much about your potential purchasers as it is about you. Explain how you came to travel and how that’s connected to how you do business and can help them.

Each service needs to include a description of who it’s for, what it includes, and what the reader should do next to book you. I find that it’s also helpful to include an FAQ section on this page to help educate your potential purchasers. Another great addition is including a detailed process description. People are more likely to book when they know how things work; so explain your process step by step and then again direct them to where they can contact you to book.
- Photo Gallery : The best thing about working in the travel industry is that your photos are, frankly, more interesting than almost any other industry. That’s a huge selling point! Share high-quality images of the locations you book, previous purchasers on their trips, and more. Help people see what they’re life will look like after they book with you.
- Contact Page : It feels obvious, but lots of travel brands get their contact pages wrong. Have a minimal, clean contact page. Include a form that doesn’t have tons of sections for them to fill out. Seriously. You can get that information after they contact you, but don’t put any barriers in front of them (like requiring a thousand form answers).
