BRAND DESIGN, MARKETING COLLATERAL, ARTS MARKETING
Huntsville Shakespeare, or HSV Shakes, is the brain child of two actor-educators, who wanted to create more opportunities for artistic endeavors in their community. While summer Shakespeare festivals are popular and crowd-pleasers, HSV Shakes set out to be more intrepid and inclusive in both it’s performances. They seek new ways to interpret Shakespeare’s plays and find new methods of developing audience connection.
I began working with them immediately after HSV Shakes’ conception, so that they could introduce themselves digitally and physically in the community with a cohesive, strong presence. The intention was for the arts marketing to be as bold as they planned to be.
I chose a loud, bright color palette to help grab attention, but omitted the overly used royal blue and scarlet that appears in a lot of theatrical branding. The logo is easy to read and the black bar gives visual boldness. In addition to their brand identity, I created show posters and a donor mailer that reflect the company’s intrepid — and a little irreverent— values.
Quietly doing good work in my own little corner of the internet.
Having been a visual artist for over 10 years, I know that every part of a brand (even the parts that are often unseen) deserve to be expressed with honesty and beauty. I am happiest standing behind the scenes, creating every design and detail for focused and intentional business owners. I created EP Design to stand beside visionaries and thought leaders who are fueled by joy.
